Foot and Ankle

Overview

Both your ankle and foot are vastly complex structures that are crucial for weight-bearing and balance. Since they are connected, injuries to either region often affect the other.

The ankle bone, called the talus, is located directly above the heel bone, known as the calcaneus. These bones are joined together with a subtalar joint that enables the foot to rotate.

Similarly, the soft tissues in the two structures are also joined together. In the heel, the achilles tendon connects to the calf muscle, which is essential for running, jumping, and standing on your toes.

A site of over one million injuries each year, it is necessary to receive the comprehensive foot and ankle care that you deserve. Our advanced imaging and diagnostic tests at The Orthopaedic Institute allow us to provide a complete and integrative approach to foot and ankle treatment, customizing each treatment plan for every patient.
